This little specialty bookshop is tucked away on Tiong Bahru Road. When you enter it’s at the far end of a corridor. There’s a bike shop to your right.
As the name suggests most of the books are in French, but there is a section with English titles close to the entrance.
Check out the colorful stickers on each book for prices.
The French lady minding the shop was very nice and left me to browse at my leisure. She didn’t mind photographs. Later on we chatted a little and she told me that the bookshop holds a small artist’s exhibit every month. August showcased the artwork of artist Lim An-Ling. All over the shop hung colorful watercolors and sketches from Ms Lim’s children’s books. I got a copy of one of the books she illustrated on a precocious child named Amanda Annanda.
The French Bookshop also has an online store where Francophiles from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia can conveniently pick and choose from about 3,000+ titles.
As an added bonus, the bookshop is on the same road as Galicier Confectionery where you can buy yourself a quick and delicious ondeh-ondeh fix.
